We are definitely not “listers,” i.e., birders who obsess about the size of their list of birds they have seen, but our passion for feathered friends runs deep. We rejoice in identifying some of the more common ones by their call and wouldn’t dream of traveling to a destination that promises to surprise us with cool birds without our binoculars. “Bins,” as the experts call them, are non-negotiable on most of our packing lists.
