Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel Unveils New Evolution Suites
Six suites designed for privacy are big, airy, and beautiful,
with ocean or garden views from private balconies
at the only beachfront hotel on Santa Cruz Island
It’s one thing for an acclaimed beachfront hotel to renovate guest rooms and another to introduce a new class of accommodation. The Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos of Ecuador is doing both, with six Evolution Suites set to debut in March 2025 to meet the demand for larger and more luxurious guest spaces.
Nestled into the property’s garden, a leisurely, boardwalk stroll from the main hotel, the Finch Bay’s new Evolution Suites are designed and arrayed for comfort, equatorial light and a sense of space. Three suites on the first floor face the ocean and beach from a perspective above ground level, while three suites on the ground floor look onto the native greenery across the property. All draw 40% of their energy from solar panels, like the rest of the hotel.

Big, airy, and beautiful, Evolution Suites range from 177 to 185 square feet. They are shaded in soothing earth tones and accented with handsome teak trim on everything from window encasements to overhead beams. The contemporary furniture is inviting, with comfortable wooden chairs, a chaise lounge, colorful throw pillows, sleek tables, and standing wooden shelving, contributing to a relaxed feel. Guests have a choice of a king or two double beds, and restful nights’ sleep are waiting under soft linens and light blankets.

The bathrooms of the Evolution Suites are something to behold. With broad-tile flooring, a marble counter with a double sink, and a long rectangular mirror recessed into the wall. A deep soaking tub waits before a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall window with vertical blinds for privacy, and a separate shower is hidden behind tinted glass.
There is more to admire outside, with each Evolution Suite outfitted with an expansive balcony of 52 to 76 square feet. Set with comfortable furnishings for relaxed alfresco moments, the balconies are built for privacy.Interconnected yet private balconies were similarly added to the hotel’s first-floor Premium Rooms, which were also given a complete decorative make-over by renowned Ecuadorian interior designer, Julio Vinueza.

The boardwalk through Finch Bay’s Garden
True to its philosophy of respecting the environment and adhering to regulations, the Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel swapped out 6 existing rooms on the property to create the new Evolution Suites, bringing its total number of rooms and suites to 33.
Whatever their itinerary, the Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel makes the perfect base for exploring the wonders of Santa Cruz Island — home to the archipelago’s emblematic giant tortoises — whether as a complement to a Galapagos cruise or as a relaxing stay of one’s own. Accompanied by expert English-speaking guides, guests can explore uninhabited, beautiful and wildlife-rich islands inside the Galapagos National Park aboard the hotel’s own Sea Lion Yacht, designed for just 20 guests.

The flavors of the remote archipelago are on the menu of the hotel’s signature Restaurant, which employs 40% local produce as well as ingredients grown on the property. And beyond being the only hotel with a secluded beachfront location on Santa Cruz, the Finch Bay offers relaxation and rejuvenation at its on-property spa, with two spacious massage rooms, hot tubs, a gym, and a yoga shala with ocean views.
