Hotel AWA Introduces AWA Villa, a Base for Adventure in Chile’s Lake District

Four-bedroom destination invites group travelers to relax
along Lake Llanqihue, with contemporary design,
full hotel services, and volcano view

There’s an exquisite, only-of-its-kind accommodation waiting to welcome adventure-driven travelers to the Lake District of Chile. Introducing AWA Villa, a destination all its own at Hotel AWA on the banks of Lake Llanquihue in Puerto Varas. Designed with native cypress and alerce wood, glass, and concrete, AWA Villa is situated a stroll from the main hotel.  The villa promises privacy, togetherness, and convenience for multi-generational families, groups of friends, or even individual travelers intrigued by the natural beauty and rich culture of the northern reaches of Chilean Patagonia.

Laid out with 4,300 square feet of interior space, including open-air terraces overlooking the lake and onsite gardens, AWA Villa is sized for a maximum of eight guests with four bedrooms and six baths. Each bedroom is outfitted with a private bathroom, and all the bathrooms have lake views.

Common areas within the villa include a main living space, a separate dining room with table seating for every guest, and a fully equipped kitchen with a separate range and stove, marble countertops, and a marble-covered table that makes a perfect gathering spot for guests to prepare meals and mix cocktails together. Not up for cooking? Hotel AWA can happily arrange the services of a private chef.

Interiors throughout AWA Villa are warm and welcoming with details such as wooden floors and cabinetry; textured furniture from stuffed sofas to beds draped with Mapuche blankets handcrafted by local artisans; and a cozy fireplace with a towering stone chimney.  All spaces throughout have floor-to-ceiling windows for views across Lake Llanquihue, which stretches 330 square miles and is ringed by black-sand shores. Indeed, on clear days, guests can see the snow-topped Osorno Volcano rising 8,700 feet on the far side of the lake.

The villa is also just 30 feet from the main hotel, offering guests steps-away access to the property’s many services and amenities. Those include dining throughout the day at AWA Restaurant, serving contemporary farm-to-table cuisine created from local and hotel-grown ingredients; entry to the hotel’s pool, spa, fitness center, and private beachfront on the lake; and dedicated service in keeping with high standards of the property.

Villa guests can also take advantage of Hotel AWA’s all-inclusive private rate, offering a bespoke excursion plan and the services of a dedicated private guide and driver to handle all details and accompany guests on personal explorations throughout their entire stay. Expanded programming ensures that guests can pick and choose from over 25 excursions throughout the region, including a hike to the Llanquihue National Reserve, only recently reopened following the 2015 eruption of Calbuco Volcano, with a mountain hut remodeled by Chilean architect and mountaineer Juan Pablo Mohr as the destination for learning about volcanism and admiring iconic views.  The AWA excursion menu offers various types of road biking adventures, including to Lago Todos los Santos/Petrohué rolling through breathtaking landscapes and views of Saltos del Petrohué and the Petrohué River.

Following the World Crafts Council’s recent designation of two “World Craft Cities” in the Lakes Region, Hotel AWA is celebrating its neighbors’ distinctions with hands-on cultural excursions for guests to experience the artisan-driven cultures at the heart of each. The cultural hands-on excursions allow guests to learn about and participate in making traditional baskets and weaving blankets.

Hotel AWA’s all-inclusive rates also include:

  • À la carte lunch and dinner at AWA Restaurant, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages included (excluding premium spirits and wines)
  • Use of a selection of bikes and e-bikes
  • Daily breakfast at AWA Restaurant or in-room
  • Use of spa facilities
  • Two private half-day or one full-day excursion chosen in direct consultation with a designated AWA guide
  • Private transfer to/from Puerto Montt Airport or Petrohué
